Bike Power
The conversion from Ford X Flow to Honda Blackbird was undertaken by Playskool Motorsport whom I think you will agree did a fantastic job. There are no clues from the outside as to what lies beneath other than the extremely sexy bonnet bulge :)

Pretty or what?

As with most bike engine installations, the engine is offset to the left in order to align the gearbox output shaft as near as possible to the centreline of the car.

All very neat & tidy.

Oil surge is not a problem on motorcycle as centrifugal force keeps the oil in the bottom of the sump as the bike leans over. However when installed in cars, which obviously don't lean over, this problem has to be overcome. One option is a dry sump system which although effective is very expensive. An alternative is the Accusump seen in the bottom right of the picture. This holds a resovoir of oil at full engine pressure. If oil surge occurs then engine pressure will drop & the accusump discharges it's contents into the engine. Once the surge has stopped the oil pump will automatically re-prime the accusump. Simple but effective.
